Just Engaged — Now What? | How to Start Planning Your Wedding
Tips on Choosing a Venue, Booking Vendors & Securing Your Wedding Photographer
Congratulations — you're engaged! 🥂 Whether it was a sunset proposal or a cosy moment at home, this is such a special time. But now that you’ve said “yes,” you might be wondering… now what?
As wedding photographers who've worked with hundreds of couples across South Wales, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, we’ve got your back.
Here’s our simple guide to help you confidently start planning your wedding — with love, clarity, and a little behind-the-scenes advice.
1. Take It All In
Before jumping into planning, take time to soak it up.
Celebrate with family and friends, enjoy being fiancés, and maybe start that secret Pinterest board you’ve been dreaming of.
2. Choose Your Wedding Venue
Booking your wedding venue is usually the first (and biggest) step — it sets your date, location, and overall feel of the day. Here's what to consider:
Things to think about:
Guest capacity
Ceremony options (indoor/outdoor)
Style (Church ceremony, modern barn, manor house, elegant estate, rustic, etc.)
Location (near home or a destination?)
💡 TIP: Book early! Popular venues (like St Tewdrics House, Eastington Park, and Tall John’s House) can be booked up 1–2 years in advance.
Book Your Wedding Photographer
Your photographer will be with you for most of the day — At Jenny & Hannah Wedding Photography, we capture your day naturally and unobtrusively, documenting the laughter, joy and quiet moments just as they unfold. We also make space for relaxed, meaningful portraits and those all-important family photos.
We’ve photographed weddings all across South Wales, Gloucestershire and the Cotswolds, and know many local venues like the back of our hands.

💡 Ask your venue or photographer for trusted recommendations — we work with some incredible creatives!
